Content Protection Subcommittee
CharterThe Content Protection Subcommittee (CPS) is a technical working group created by the Technical Committee with the purpose of developing guidelines for enabling legitimate access to protected commercial content in the DLNA environment. ScopeThe CPS will focus on developing interoperable link protection guidelines in the DLNA v1.0/ v1.1 environment to support a selection of use cases approved by the Use Case Subcommittee. The CPS will develop technical requirements to identify and select technologies for protecting content on the links between DLNA v1.0/ v1.1 device classes, regardless of how content arrives in the network. A stated goal is to develop guidelines that should be ready for IPR review as soon as possible. These short-term guidelines should be based on existing content protection technologies. The short term solution does not need to take into account forward compatibility with any future solutions that the DLNA may adopt. In order for these guidelines for link protection to be successful (i.e. widely adopted), they should be based on technologies accepted by providers of commercial content in the relevant media classes and should be as transparent to the user as possible. The CPS must also be cognizant of regulatory and licensing constraints and will liaise with other working groups as needed. |
